Individual Placement and Support (IPS)
If you feel that your mental health condition is making it difficult for you to find or stay in work and develop your career opportunities, our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment service can support you.
We know that having a job can play a big part in building your self-confidence and independence, and that living with a severe mental health condition shouldn’t stop you from doing the things you want to do.
If you’re being supported by our mental health services we can help you find meaningful work opportunities.
If you’re currently unemployed and interested in working, we can:
- Help you find a paid job as close to your work preferences as possible
- Work closely with our health teams, to make sure we provide the right ongoing advice for your conditions
- Work with your employer to make sure you’re getting on well in your job
- Offer benefits counselling if needed
- Support you throughout your journey into work, for as long as you need
We can also support you if you’re in work, such as help you keep your current role if you feel you’re struggling because of your mental health.
Our retention support service can:
- Create a return to work plan with you
- Work with your employer to make reasonable adjustments to suit your needs, or discuss redeployment if required
- Manage your personal information
Our employment specialists are based at different sites across Berkshire. We meet you wherever you feel most comfortable, such as libraries, cafes, or your local job centre.
When you first contact us, we’ll tell you more about this and make arrangements to best suit your needs.
If you're being supported by our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) services, or through your local primary care network, you can contact your care professional to arrange a referral to our service.
You can also self-refer by emailing us.
